Back in early April the Cambridge, England, women’s crew, which included our very own Grace Prendergast and Ruby Tew, won the university boat race in record time for their fifth straight triumph.

The race is an annual event between crews from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, and takes place on the famous Championship Course that stretches over 4.25 miles of tidal Thames in West London between Putney and Mortlake.

The event had returned to London after being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic. In 2021 it took place without spectators on the River Great Ouse in Cambridgeshire because of coronavirus restrictions.

Crowds were back on the banks of the Thames as Cambridge sealed a comprehensive victory over Oxford by more than two lengths, clocking a time of 18 minutes and 22 seconds.

The world-famous sporting event has become synonymous with British tradition and excellence.

I was caught off-guard with how cool an event this is. It will go down as a highlight of my rowing career. Grace Prendergast
