Receive $5,000 for your school*

Aon NZ and Rowing NZ are again investing in an emerging school rowing scholarship to help a school that has a rowing programme in its infancy.

The school could be in its first season of having a rowing programme in place, their programme could have been re-established or maybe it’s a school that has struggled to get the numbers simply because of its size and location.

The school will need to demonstrate their desire to develop and grow their programme as part of the application process for this scholarship. Up for grabs is $5,000 cash for a school to put towards costs that relate to their rowing programme: travel expenses (to and from regattas), uniform costs, coaching courses etc.

Taupo-nui-a-Tia College, was the deserving winner of the 2023 Aon Emerging Schools Scholarship.

The school had a robust strategic plan in their scholarship application. They demonstrated realistic growth numbers and have the potential to send athletes to this years Aon Maadi Regatta. With a lack of funding or even their own boats, it was apparent that Taupo-nui-a-Tia College was in need of support.

Part of the money they received was targeted towards training camps, assisting novice rowers into the programme and purchasing safety equipment to cater for rising numbers.

  • Schools eligible must have less than 10 rowers currently in their programme.
  • They must have a vision for their rowing program /plans to develop in the future.
  • They must demonstrate a valid need for the financial support.
